CBD oil gaining a lot of popularity these days in the press and it intrigued me to learn more about this product and see what it can do for me.  You see, I’ve been struggling with chronic shoulder pain and rotator cuff injuries that stem all the way from my teen years when I was into gymnastics.

As I started doing my research I realized that, although it’s a cannabis product, it does not contain any significant amount of THC—the psychoactive compound in marijuana—so it won’t get you high. Every online discussion and article that I read talked about CBD as an effective alternative for treating everything from sleep issues to eczema. I’d even heard from a few friends that CBD oil can be especially useful for treating muscle and joint pain.

All these positive reviews got me curious, so I decided to give CBD cream a try in the form of a pain-relieving cream. In case you didn’t know, CBD lotions and creams are available online and ship legally to all 50 states in the U.S. I’ve got to admit I was skeptical at first but was willing to try anything that could possibly help with the chronic pain. And I’m so glad I gave it a shot!

The cream I used, Harmonycanna Body Balm with Full Spectrum CBD, smelled not too overpowering, but like a pleasant mixture of natural herbs and menthol. I’d heard that other creams and lotions had a very distinct cannabis smell, but this one smelled pleasant and no there was no evidence of any hemp-like odor. Hydrating beeswax, shea butter, organic jojoba oil, soothing lavender, and chamomile were also listed as ingredients and the texture was more of a balm than a cream and it seems like a little could go a long way.

I had read that the best way to use a topical CBD is to really rub it in deep into to the skin (CBD massages have become very popular for this reason), so I really took my time to spread the balm on my shoulder and massage it thoroughly. And, lo and behold, the balm really did help to relieve my pain! The pain relief seemed to get better with each use and it seemed to go deep, better than any topical creams I’ve tried from drugstores that only helped on the surface.

Now, I’d be lying if I said it took all the pain away, but it certainly helped. And it was all natural! I’d use the balm right before bed and after my physical therapy sessions that I had twice a week, for the shoulder that constantly caused me discomfort.

CBD cream is not a cure-all, but for me, it’s a great supplemental way of treating chronic pain so that I don’t have to go to the doctor for prescriptions or at least alternate between this natural and other, not so natural, measures to get my chronic pain under control. It’s definitely not cheap, but, for me, it is a great way to treat myself with a natural solution for pain-relief that really does wonders, much more than a traditional menthol patch at a local drug store.
